Kathleen Henderson is a partner in the Healthcare and Litigation Sections of King & Ballow. Ms. Henderson received her law degree from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University and her undergraduate degree from the United States Naval Academy. She is also
ADR Mediation Trained via Lipscomb University, Institute for Conflict Management.
Ms. Henderson’s legal practice interests focus on labor & employment, safety, health, environmental, transportation and technology, mindful of the challenges facing clients and the importance of cost effectiveness. She is also trained and certified in mediation. In 2010, Ms. Henderson retired as a Colonel from the U.S. Marine Corps with 28 years of service including duty assignments in Djibouti, Africa and Fallujah, Iraq. Ms. Henderson is chair of King & Ballow's Healthcare Practice and edits King & Ballow's WebLINE, an online service delivering information for providers on a variety of issues and challenges facing the healthcare industry, including Medicare reimbursements, Medicare Recovery Audit Contractors, government regulations, employment law, and more. Controlling costs in healthcare litigation is a significant challenge and concern to many health care professionals. Ms. Henderson is trained in alternative dispute resolution and is certified by the Supreme Court of the State of Tennessee to serve as a mediator and is experienced in representing clients in ADR proceedings. She has over 20 years experience in litigating and providing counsel on government regulatory compliance, most recently including HIPAA, Red Flag Rules and OSHA compliance. Ms. Henderson formerly represented the Secretary of Labor, U.S. Department of Labor with respect to prosecution of labor, employment, and OSHA matters. She is committed to benefiting providers through establishing and maintaining connections in the healthcare industry and her participation in Leadership Health Care, the ABA's Health Section, and outreach from the Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services and Recovery Audit Contractor programs. Ms. Henderson is admitted to practice law in Alabama; Tennessee; U.S. District Court, Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama; U.S. District Court, Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Tennessee; U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas; U.S. Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit; U.S. Court of Appeals, 5th Circuit;Certified Mediator, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31. She is also a member of the Nashville Bar Association, Nashville Bar Journal, Editorial Board, Leadership Healthcare and has an "AV" Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell. Publications:
