All
INS offices, including District Offices and Service Centers will be
halting work on petition applications while they conduct an audit
to inventory all pending forms in INS' possession. The INS will open
every file in each office and count each form.
No processing will occur for a week or more, and some district offices
may be longer. INS will continue to process permanent residence age-out
cases on an "off-line" basis.
Watch out in September! INS will then conduct a full-scale official
audit meaning no adjudications for awhile and more delays. The purpose
of the audit is to reach funds from the user fee account to cover
the cost of processing the case backlog. |
